Trend Talk Tuesdays: Fringe
Touted the 'Pocahontas' look, fringe has been present on the runways to high street stores and our favourite boutiques much more of late. At first, it was infused on dresses and bags, as seen for Miu Miu and Prada in 2007 and Tod's in 2008. After the obvious welcome many in the fashion world gave it, fringe started to adorn scarves, shoes, and even leggings. It also evolved to being longer, wilder, and bolder in terms of colour and materiel. We've been keeping our eyes open for this trend for ages now, and even wrote a post about it before when we spotted some great DIYed ones on Lookbook.

Spring/Summer 2009 runway action saw Alexander McQueen's pieces accompanied with subtle fringing at the edges of the body, ditto at Alberta Ferretti.

Jil Sander infused long-flowing fringe in her dresses (it looks so good that we care not whether we'll trip over it!) while Gaspard Yurkievich leaned towards the Burlesque look. [Source: Fashionising.com]

While some people find the "Pocahontas-meets-wild-wild-west" look a tad too outrageous for their liking, the trick is not to overdo it. Having one item with fringe adds some sass and sensuality to your ensemble.

Genevieve Jones, the accessories designer has been touted saying "It's very sexy, the way it moves", when asked his opinion about fringe in a Huffington Post article. His design, a strappy black fringe satchel, is a favorite of fashion editors, celebrities and fashionistas alike.

Besides making its mark on shoes, flapper dresses and bags, fringe has even made its way into the swimsuit and leggings department! I personally love how they've embedded fringes on this monokini, though I certainly can't imagine diving into the depths of the ocean with it!

Fringe leggings by Topshop (Not sure how we like this tho... it makes us think of John Travolta in Staying Alive)
Celebrities spotted rocking the fringe trend:

Mischa Barton with fringe boots

Lily Donaldson for British Vogue

Haylie Duff, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudges with fringe bags
Celebrities aren't the only ones who're soaking up this trend - we've spotted a number of gorgeous looks on Lookbook and fashion blogs that we couldn't help but swoon over!
