Let it be known that camwhoring is hard stuff! Taking hand-held pictures requires a lot of trial and error especially when ears, eyes and sometimes even the face is completely cut out of the picture. Fun moments captured on camera with friends becomes a peek and boo adventure to see who made it into the frame and who unfortunately got cut out. Now, Samsung has come out with the revolutionary ST500 and ST550 cameras that comes with an additional screen at the front of the camera! Perfect for the camwhore in all of us!
It's quite genius, really. The additional 1.5'' screen at the front of the cameras is a great help on so many levels!
1. While camwhoring with friends, the screen will show you who and what you're capturing. No more guessing games!
2. If you're travelling alone and want the satisfaction of capturing the beautiful background with you in frame, the screen will help set up the shot so that you get the background you want.
3. The front screen works as a countdown timer for self-timer shots so that you can ready your smile for the Kodak moment.
4. The cameras have a 'Children Mode' where to maintain the attention of children, the front screen will play a little video while you take the picture. Personally, I'd love to use this feature with some of my short-attention-span guy friends! Imagine the expressions I'd capture!
Apart from the nifty addition of the screen, both cameras look to be a solid technological contraption, incorporating 12.2 megapixels for super clear shots, a 4.6 optical zoom as well as High-Definition recording video capability.
What's really neat is the fact that the cameras utilize a new Smart Capture User Interface that makes picture reviewing very fun and sleek too! The built-in Acceleration Sensor means that the camera is sensitive to your every touch, tilt it and the picture slideshow will flip to the next one. No more tiring button-pressing!
You might be wondering with all these same features what's the difference between the ST500 and ST550 cameras. Well, to answer your question, the only difference between the two are the size of the screens. Both the camera back screens are completely touch sensitive as well, but the ST500 screen is 3'' wide while the ST550 is sized at 3.5'' wide.
They also come in different colours; the ST500 is available in shades of silver, red and blue. On the other hand, the ST550 comes in black, gold, orange and purple.
The ST500 and ST550 will retail at RM999 and RM1,249 respectively; and will be available at the end of September.
