Marks & Sparks… and Patricia Field.
By: Joyce
Oh, this was coming. How could we not see it. It’s inevitable the celebrated direction of stylist icon Patricia Field was to be commissioned sooner or later by a megabrand to form a collaboration of sorts. Reported just last night (Malaysian time) on Vogue.com, the news has already spurted a repetition of exclamation points and question marks across fashion sites.

Field will be churning out a 35-piece range that will debut in October that is said to be available in the UK stores, online and ’selected international markets’ (I wonder where that means). Known for styling shows Sex and the City, Ugly Betty and The Devil Wears Prada, Field’s penchant for leather pants, fruity colours, fluorescent swirls, gargantuan floral appliqués and knee-length dresses who scream their love for curves put the word eclectic to shame.
Everyone is wondering how her identity mixed with M&S will turn out. Even though M&S have some decent pieces, their colour palette doesn’t seem as if it’d embrace Field’s with open arms. Then again, this might be exactly what their brand needs - a bit of crazy thrown in to appeal to the new generation of shoppers.
