Ôscillation Preview

Last Monday we got to try Lancôme’s latest revolutionary mascara at Pavilion, KL. Introducing Ôscillation, the first vibrating mascara from Lancôme. It provides no less than 7,000 vibrations per minute, which means perfect application for an intense 360° coating around each lash!

The table was covered with older types of Lancôme mascara as well as other products from the Lancôme range.

After helping ourselves to the drinks and canapés provided by Zang Toi Café, we watched a quick history of Lancôme mascara and were shown how the brand new Ôscillation mascara works.

L - R: Tan Kai Li, Lancôme trainer and Kelly Tan, Lancôme makeup project manager, demonstrating Ôscillation's lash enhancing action.

Then we were shown the special polymer-based brush. It felt like soft rubber. The bouncy, flexible material is designed to optimize the vibrations of the mascara. One tube of Ôscillation lasts for no less than 180 applications (about six months of use) but, what's really great is that the mini motor (3cm) battery is removable and recyclable.

The lash ruler measures lash length so you can actually see how much longer your eyelashes become after applying the mascara. In the case of the model, Evern, her lashes were about 2mm longer after using Ôscillation!

Evern getting her lashes measured by Lancôme's national makeup artist, Zamri Zainol.

The result? There’s no longer a need for those old school lid-pinching curlers! I could never quite master that staple tool of lash beauty because I was too afraid of putting a clamping metal instrument near my eyes. Lancôme’s Ôscillation mascara (thankfully) cuts all that hassle in half.

The difference before (left) and after (right) is really striking. With just a few quick vibrating brushes of Ôscillation mascara followed by little touch-ups without the vibrating function turned on, Evern's eyes looked wider and more dramatic.

Zamri demonstrated some makeup tips to follow when applying mascara. He explained, "Lashes are like trees, you have to support the roots," so you actually have to push towards the eyelid a little to get enough mascara on to the lash base in order to set a defined curl.

Ôscillation is applied in straight, smooth strokes rather than in a zigzag manner as with normal mascara. You can also easily control how much mascara you wish to apply by either turning the vibrating action on or off by pressing the button.

After we learnt how to use the Ôscillation mascara, I had a little fun with Lancôme’s gorgeous eyeshadows. Their eyeshadows are finely powdered and go on smoothly when swiped across the lids. I was also impressed with their intense pigmentation and opaque coverage.

Here's the final result using Lancôme’s Ôscillation mascara, Ombre Absolue Radiant Smoothing Eye Shadow - G40, and Hypnose Onyx – 014 (shimmering mascara top coat).

Though the Ôscillation mascara is smudge-proof and holds lash curls well, it's also surprisingly easy to wash off.

Don’t Forget! To be among the first to own Ôscillation, get on the waiting list by calling the Lancôme's KLCC counter at 03-2382 0281. Only 400 pieces will be available the exclusive launch at KLCC between 4 – 10 February before the nation-wide launch in April! Ôscillation retails for RM120.
