TiC Pick: Valentine's Day Limited Edition Havaianas
Valentine's Day is cloyingly sweet in all its painted advertisers' glory and though flower, chocolates and expensive dinners are de riguer for the day, it's always more appealing to play the rebel and subvert the melodramatic romanticism. Though flip-flops might be a strange gift for Valentine's Day, key in the fact that it's Havaianas, not just any plain ol' slippers, and that it's of a limited edition design and you have yourself a winner!

Fashion News from Around the World
Fashion marketing goes left off-field in Lanvin's latest Spring 2010 ad campaign, Donna Karan's short film featuring Christina Ricci and American brand, Esprit's, choice of new spokesmodel (who are wholly not born or bred in the US of A). Apart from that Chanel spreads some fashion cheer by loosening the purse strings and Hong Kong offers up an alternative to popular Shopbop.com wth GizzyNacho.com. Last but not least, it's the end of a decade and Vogue would like you to help vote in the best-dressed women of the 'Aughties'!

Fashion News from Around the World
Among some of the breaking news in the fashion landscape this week is news of a tag-team between Stella McCartney and legendary rocker Morissey of The Smith to create leather-free shoes, party central as Sonia Rykiel designs for H&M, Lanvin designing postage stamps, the verdict on Christian Lacroix's future and busy bee Zac Posen creating a Target collection. Also, John Galliano creates a tropical meets arctic Christmas tree that certainly sets the mood for the holidays!

Where To Shop: Hong Kong (HK)
Just in case any of you are traveling to Hong Kong over the long weekend (due to Hari Raya hols), I thought I'd post some suggestions on where to shop as emailed to us by our HK contributor Tricia Yap.

Nina Ricci F/W09 Bags @ On Pedder
For Nina Ricci Fall/Winter 09, Olivier Theyskens conceptualized a dark yet elegant design. Lush dark hues projected an aura of untouchable beauty. There was an almost mysterious dramatic noir look to the entire collection, a sort of look-but-no-touch feel to it.

Karen Walker (NZ, OZ, HK)
I cannot reiterate enough how much I, or New Zealanders for that matter, adore Karen Walker, whose refreshing take on fashion has been immensely celebrated by fellow fashionistas all around the world since 2000. Her clothing line is mainly about looking subtle and chic, without missing that dose of fun in styling. It's gonna be a picture-heavy post for there are simply too many amazing numbers in the Karen Walker world that I would love to share with you fashion-loving souls, so consider yourself warned!

CLOT Green Program (HK & KL)
Do you remember the mass hysteria at Bangsar when JUICE first opened in Malaysia? If that reception was anything to go by, the company has been a raging success in the retail industry. CLOT, founded by Edison Chen and Kevin Poon, has not let their achievements go to their heads and are trying to give back to the community. After being inspired by the Hong Kong government plastic bag levy scheme, CLOT has decided to release an environmental tote bag to help both the environment and your shopping habits.

Cybèle (NZ + HK)
RunwayReporter.com once described Cybèle as "providing thinking women everywhere with clothes that are in equal measures original, clever, pretty, sexy and very much of the moment." I am certain that many would second that statement. Inaugurated by designer Cybèle Wiren in year 2003, the brand is well known for its seemingly minimalist cutting, yet always with that little twist and attitude added in fabric prints.

Hello Kitty @ On Pedder
An icon in its own right, the Hello Kitty we all know and love will be infused with high fashion, as On Pedder (which we wrote about here!) will be launching their take on the well-loved cat in an intriguing collaboration.

Salasai (NZ + HK)
If anything at all, Salasai is a breath of fresh air. Single-handedly founded by Kirsha Whitcher in year 2006, Salasai has since swept the rest of the world off their feet with her unconventional take in fashion design that is filled with retro and inimitable elements. Click to view pieces from the SS09 and AW09 collections.
Christian Joy Presentation At On Pedder (HK)
If you've not heard of Christian Joy before, let me tell you that she's best known for her outer-galactic costumes for her BFF Karen O, lead singer of my favourite band, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! This Wednesday on 5th August, On Pedder is set to introduce and exhibit the works of the New York-based fashion designer at On Pedder Wheelock House.

NZ Gem: Kate Sylvester
I was strolling around High Street and came to a halt when I laid my eyes on a boutique with mannequins beautifully donned in immaculate dresses. I stepped into the store and in a very brief moment, fell in love with Kate Sylvester.
