M-IFW09: One Minute Quickies with Models
On the very last night of the Malaysia International Fashion Week 09, Gwen and I were milling around gathering our wits after the star-studded BDA Gala when who should we see standing outside but Tinie, the M-IFW'09 Female Model of the Year. Of course we couldn't give up the opportunity to interview her and she kindly gave us some of her time. We also snagged a quickie with Malaysian supermodel Tengku Azura!

M-IFW 09: Eclipse by Sonny San
Just back from Russia to showcase his fabulous sparkling collection in Russian Fashion Week barely a month ago, Malaysia's first king of ready-to-wear and Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (MIFA) Designer of The Year 08, Sonny San bowled us over with his latest collection under the Eclipse label.

M-IFW09: Born with Style
The Born with Style showcase which highlighted the collections of Villiam Ooi, Hazree Wahid and Gallo by Thian started off swiftly with great aplomb when the models for Villiam Ooi's collection marched out at the start of the runway in his designs. Their actions, much like the designs demanded full attention from the audience and marked a great start to the showcase that highlights three of Malaysia's most promising designers.

M-IFW09: Couture Inspirations
The Couture Inspirations showcase which happened on Day 3 was one that highlighted Malaysian style haute couture. High end fashion with intricate detailing was given a dash of local culture with the usage of traditional fabrics and designs. The three brands that showcased their intrepid design-making skills were David Fung, N.A.F.I Collezione and local shoe brand N.Y.C. Come see what happens when East collides with the West.

M-IFW09: Soft Seduction
Jumping from show by one talented designer to the next, our third day kicked off with a showcase called Soft Seduction featuring Kwan Creation Spring/Summer 10 collections by Daniel Cho, one of mifa’s KL Six.

M-IFW09: The Hair Show
The Salon Esprit team headed by Miko Au presented a special slot titled "The Hair Show" in conjunction with Malaysia International Fashion Week on last Thursday at Offcial Venue - Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. It was indeed a dramatic fashion show.

M-IFW09: An Afternoon Affair
After witnessing the kaleidoscope of collections during the Curtain Unveil and watched the 10 Rising Stars flaunt their pieces, fashion devotees such as ourselves were treated to An Afternoon Affair – a sizzling showcase that features talented home-grown designers and brands.

M-IFW09: mifa 10 Rising Stars
One of the most exciting show to watch during MIFW has got to be the 10 Rising Stars M-IFW 09. It features 10 of the hottest designers just breaking through in Malaysia. Instead of the usual showcase of collection after collection, official sponsor for M-IFW 09 - Maxis, decided to amplify the showcase by conducting a challenge where the the 10 chosen ones had to design an outfit for a doll to match the exclusive MIFW 09 mobile accessories from Maxis - which was displayed upon entering the Bukit Bintang Entrance of Pavilion.

M-IFW09: Curtain Unveil
After great excitement and much fanfare from all corners of the local fashion scene, the Malaysian International Fashion Week (M-IFW) kicked off to rousing support from a packed crowd. Now in its 7th consecutive year, Malaysia's most high-profile fashion event started out with a fashion show from MaxMara and Diane von Furstenberg Autumn/Winter 2009 Collection on Wednesday night. Yesterday's morning event, 'Curtain Unveil', highlighted 8 designers that were making waves locally - Amir Luqman, Glitz Glamour, Jimmy Lim, PU3, Oscar, PEGG, Syomir and LyndaRahim KL. With Ai Tominaga officiating the catwalk as the first model out, the show was off to a great start.

MIFW: Model's Point of View
[Joyce: TiC just interviewed model Jay earlier this month, and here she is with a post for TiC]
It’s been over two weeks since MIFW and I remember all too well how call time on the first day was at 6am! It may not sound too bad, but throw in a late fitting the night before, dinner after and packing up my "work gear", and you can see why 6am is early.
MIFW: Ten Rising Stars
Malaysian International Fashion Week finally closed last Saturday with the announcement of recipients for the MIFA 2008 Awards. Designer of the Year went to Sonny San, and Model of the Year went to Gwen Loo, whom Tongue in Chic has interviewed before. Kyuan scooped up award for Best Evening Wear, Julia Leong took home the Best Casual Wear award, and Michelle Hee won two awards - Most Promising Designer of the Year, and Best Avant Garde.
Besides the Truly Asia show which we've blogged about, another show many were looking forward to was Ten Rising Stars presented by Envy magazine. These ten designers are not names we are unfamiliar with, their involvement in various fashion shows, contests and TV shows propelling their brands into fashion media.

MIFW: Day 1 on Chic TV
Here's a Chic TV video for you on the Truly Asia show that opened Malaysian International Fashion Week! :D Please be patient for the show's pictures as there are hundreds to sort through. We'll be putting up a few images from each designer that showed in Truly Asia and update as we go along so you can keep clicking back!

Get In To The First After Party Of Fashion Week!

Malaysian International Fashion Week is drawing ever so close, and will be kicking off in less than 48 hours! I don't mean to do an hourly countdown, Eleanor Ng can't take the daily ones as it is! Everyone's in a flurry on which shows are must-see, which after parties to attend, and WHAT TO WEAR, dear God!
MIFW Diary: The Ugly Side of Fashion
By: Eleanor Ng
With Fashion Week teasingly peeking around the corner (and me wanting to slap it silly), my schedule has evolved into an ongoing battle to keeping awake. Livita, Red Bull, Ribena, Milo by the spoonfuls, and perhaps a tad too many Belvedere's later, I find my sanity dangling by a shoelace. And what a fashionable shoelace it is...

BRYANBOY Is Coming To KL!
Yes, he totally is! I first overheard fashion editor William Kee say it at the Chic CODE party yesterday, and made him repeat himself just to be sure. Tongue in Chic contributors in Singapore - Fashionation - went absolutely mental when he dropped by the little red dot last month, and come next week, the bitchiest fashion blogger in the Phillipines will be flown down for Malaysian International Fashion Week!

15 More Days to MIFW!
Malaysian International Fashion Week is happening in 15 days! All the organisers and designers have been MIA in the scene of late. No doubt they're having sleepless nights putting the event and collections together, though I dare say some of them will be coming out to play at stylist Cris Yong's birthday party tomorrow night ;)
