New on the Block: ActuallyActually (SG)

Filed In Blog by karen wong | Comments: 0 | Views: 214

The Actually... store has earned itself a space in the hearts of the stylish folk of Singapore for it's genre-boundary pursuit of chicness. However in the past, their range has tended to skew towards males, while we double-x chromosomed beings looked on in envy. Well, dismiss the green-eyed monster because Actually... has just opened a new parellel store called ActuallyActually. With it's focus set on the international style pulse, ladies, you're not going to want to miss this.

Asia is given some star wattage as the premier shopping destination with the opening of the Forever 21 flagship store, the landmark Hermès boutique and Abercrombie & Fitch.  And what's this, North Korea is the new place to watch for place to go for trendy jeans? Of course, New York remains tha mecca of the fashion pack and Project Runway recognizes the fact by returning back to the home state. Also in the news, one of the Top 10 models of 2009 boycotted the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 runway because of the 'armadillo' shoes and Lisa Loeb of 90s springboards from her signature style to create cat-eyed frames.

Elvine @ Actually... (SG)

When we talk about Sweden, we think of sophistication. We see streetstyle blog favourites being Swedish men and women that have  given a new edge to simplicity - the creative results from the combination of the country's history and emergence of new subcultures. At the heart of it all, Elvine takes on the 2 features of Sweden and embraces it as its design philosophy - "Sophisticated clothes for unsophisticated behaviour".

For the most part, initial talk of Korea will bring to mind these three tidbits: kimchi, rhinoplasty and Rain (who I secretly call "Strange Six"; 6 pack abs on a 6 year old face). But there's a rising star in Korea and his name is one to watch. Chung Jae-woong is an upcoming designer who is slowly staking his name in the global fashion scene. He most recently placed as one of the final 5 contestants for Project Runway Korea where he stood out for his innovative use of draping. You can get a load of his collection, [BL_NK] which is now available at Actually... in Singapore.

I live in bustling city - Singapore, and sometimes I just want to get away from it all. The lights, the sound and the heat! I long for a sanctuary not too far away and yet still possesses a kind of serenity. I thought I found it in The Barracks Café, nestled deep within Dempsey Hill with lots of comfort food and a cosy atmosphere.

Now, every trip to The Barracks Café is twice the fun with a new addition to the Spa Esprit family.
